What is the purpose of fear?
Does fear serve a purpose?
If fear has a purpose when is that purpose complete?
Please read Isaiah 41:10
Vs. 10 “So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
When I was younger and struggling with depression and pain at its strongest moment in my life I learned that the opposite of Love is not hate but instead the opposite of Love is fear. I have seen this in my own life and all around the world.
Does this passage above go against what Paul wrote in Philippians where he said “work out your salvation with fear and trembling?”
Could it be that the purpose of fear is for us to see the capability and Love of God?
I could never see the capability of God until I first saw the incapaiblity of myself- this is the purpose of the law, the reason for depression and the blessing of fear!
Isn’t it great to spend time with your closest friend? To me that is exactly what meditation is!
Is the fear you face today trying to call you back to your closest friend- God?
Here is a meditation I am finding very useful today and I hope you will also. Find a quiet time and place where you won’t be disturbed but if you are just accept that as an interruption from God and thank Him for it.
Close your eyes and get a picture of that which you fear in your head and see God being right there beside you ready to fight alongside you as you and God stand up to the foe see the cause of your fear get smaller and go from color to black and white.
As you get that picture repeat this:
Breathe in and say:
“So do not fear“
Breathe out and say:
“I AM with you“
Keep going over this until your enemy and therefore the enemy of God runs away into the corner to hide. The enemy is still there but God and you together have defeated it. While the enemy may rise up again you know the battle belongs to God and you know that your faith is growing.
Don’t Worry- Be- Grace-Full!!
