The Blessing of the broken!

A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.  As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.” – Luke 7:37-38

You will never be able to have acceptance for yourself and therefore Love yourself and therefore Love your neighbor as yourself as long as you don’t get one simple concept:

It’s not about the law – it’s about Him!

The guilt and shame that she felt from her “sinful life” were radically changed when she met the one that would end the reason for the condemnation she felt from the law!

This realization still brings a grateful stream of tears rolling down my face at times as I grow in the realization of His gift and just how amazingly perfect it is.

This is not just knowledge of salvation in the sweet by and by. This isn’t some ok I am good to go now and my future is secure. This is a knowledge and indeed an understanding that His perfect gift goes even deeper into the soul and very core of our being and we don’t deserve it at all.

I have often heard it said that you can’t take someone to a point where you haven’t been. For the most part I believe this is true and as such I wonder about people who are very religious and what point they as taking people to.

This woman was not having a religious experience as many of the people would have felt more comfortable with- she was having a spiritual experience of understanding the gift that Christ was, is and will always Be and what that meant to her being.

This wasn’t some rehearsed, contrived or ceremonial pomp and circumstance this was a human being grasping the very essence of the cleansing and forgiving power of the Grace of God!

She saw how much He Loved her and the tremendous gift that He offered freely to All who would believe not based on her works, for if based on works she should have taken the expensive perfume sold it and given the money to the poor- No it was, is and always will be a Free gift of Grace because of His Great Love for us!

This woman accepted who she was so she could accept who He was and be given the greatest gift ever given to anyone- Grace – through His Love for us and a Freedom that she could never have to Love herself and others in a whole new way!
