Are you a people pleaser?
What makes Grace different from all other beliefs?
“As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1:9-10
If you are still trying to please people you are not a servant of Christ- Ouch! The hard cold reality is that this was written to a group of people that went back to the Law for some “form of righteousness.”
What does God’s curse look like here?
1) You are always worried about “doing” and “saying” the right thing.
2) You have to be busy and you have to always “do” what others want and expect.
3) You are on a treadmill of doing that never ends.
4) You are always seeking the approval of others and disapproval causes you pain.
The life of a human being pleaser is not easy and it comes with a tremendous amount of pain, guilt, shame and performance based self-esteem to one degree or another.
Christ came to change all that with unconditional Love from Above! You didn’t earn it, you never will and you never can.
Here is the opposite of people pleasing and what makes Grace different– LOVE ONE ANOTHER!!
LOVE ONE ANOTHER just like Christ Loved you- unconditionally and without preconceived notions of what is “supposed” to be and without judgment- accept what is and life gets remarkable better!
Find a time and a place where you can have some uninterrupted time and just start to breathe deeply and release your stress with every exhale. When you feel a bit more calm and relaxed begin to breathe normal and:
Breathe in and say:
“Lord let me”
Breathe out and say:
“Love like Christ”
Practice this for several days till your focus is on Loving like He Loved not on doing.
Don’t Worry- Be Grace-Full!!
