What kind of debt are you in?
Were we ever told that debt was good?
Is there a debt that God wants you to stay in?
Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay- never! Not now, not then and not ever! The debt was simple and yet it had to do with the very core of my being not being able to measure up and satisfy the righteous requirements of the law.
“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to Love one another, for whoever Loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery”, “You shall not murder”, “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to its neighbor therefore Love is the fulfillment of the law.” – Romans 13:8-10
There is no more debt except that of continuing to “LOVE ONE ANOTHER!!”
Again the simple message of the new covenant and the New Testament is made very plain by one all encompassing four letter word. Again we are called to focus on one four letter word that is the very thing that God is.
Here is an interesting activity you might enjoy. Take a look at how the word “Love” was used in the Old Testament. Write down some of the ways it was used and then look at how it was used in the New Testament and see if it is used differently.
The other kind of debt is the one based on performance and doing the law and it is never ending. If you are under this kind of debt then Christ is of no value to you at all. You face guilt, shame, doubt, depression and a constant need to prove yourself. The problem is you will never be able to prove anything to God.
His yoke is easy and His burden is light!
Dont worry- Be Grace-Full!

The debt of law was paid in full on the cross He bore! Focus on Love once in Christ!
Thank you for the focus on these verses. “..for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.”
I hope I never get over what He has done for me. I have gone so many years being a Christian, but not really knowing the fullness of what He did. It has been such a blessing to find His love and grace, not only for the end, but for the complete journey.
There are so many that teach otherwise, and claim to be right in demanding so many petty rules, that they have figured out on their own and are positive that is what God wants. These teachers are depriving so many trusting people of the real joy of being Christians. This Sunday I came across a tract written by a well meaning Christian. I was very angry when I read it, and then I became very sad. It explained how so many people were sinning by doing so many things in the wrong way. Quite a warning.
I thought of Jesus scolding the Pharisees for making so many rules of their own and demanding obedience. This tract mentioned the importance of doing everything right.
The problem is, Jesus never said anything like that. He knows that when we love one another we will be doing all we really can do. He did all of the doing. When we love we will be doing everything as right as we can. Love God and love one another. He paid our debt forever!
I rejoice in freedom in Christ and pray others can come to see He really did die to set us free. It’s not just a meaningless saying.
Blessings and prayers, LovedByGod
Amen sister! You bless me in so many ways and I appreciate your witness and testimony!
If God wanted blind obedience to His law then we have to consider – Why Jesus?
Was God just playing a cruel joke OR were we and are we healed by His stripes, made Holy
as He is Holy by His Gift and raised to walk in newness of Life upon entering a
relationship with Him!
For years I studied the Bible and I knew all the verses and what they were supposed
“to mean” but there was always this hole in me that no amount of work or effort or
quota could fill – He didn’t come to give that condemnation so guess where it came from?
Praise God my Thank-full ness grows with every breath and every second of realizing this
Amazing Grace He so richly provides – It Really Is a Journey!
Thank you for sharing sister and I am glad you enjoyed this one!
