What does it take to be a fool for Christ?
“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 2:14-16
There is a discernment that comes through the Spirit that grows as Grace grows in a person. It doesn’t come from a stone tablet but from a Grace-Full Spirit of Love.
This discernment will direct you in right and wrong as that is the mind of Christ that grows as you Love. This discernment is not based merely on human judgments because if it was we would be teaching God and I don’t know about you but I am soooo very not capable of doing that!
So what is the “mind of Christ”?
1) He didn’t care about the judgments of man, only the Love He freely shared!
2) The ones rejected by everyone else were the ones He was with the most!
3) He willingly gave up everything to Love you!
4) He spread Love and as a result people continue to be healed!
Keep in mind that this passage does not say I judge people- nor does any other passage! This passage says “makes judgments about all things” which means some “things” might be right for you but not for me- who am I to instruct the Lord?
As we grow in Love the mind of Christ develops- but NOT as we grow in law. If the law was still our measuring stick after we received the Spirit- then why do we have the Spirit for discernment?
Find a time to just relax and breathe and make this a meditative prayer for today:
Breathe in and say:
“The Spirit in me”
Breathe out and say:
“The mind of Christ”
Practice this way and rest in the fact that spirituality is a lifelong path and not a destination. Let Him deal with the destination and relax in His Love Here and Now!
Don’t worry- Be Grace-Full!
