Is what you are seeking causing pain?
Are you ready to knock on the door?
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?” – Matthew 7:7-9
Is everything God gives good?
Yes absolutely but that doesn’t mean we always see it that way does it?
God gave us the law and it is good when used in context. It is after all the vehicle that brings us to Christ and shows us our need for Him. But if we hang on to it after we have received Him as the full payment of our sins then we get legalism, guilt and shame.
Perhaps the same applies with other things as well?
Money is a good tool. It provides food as a means of trade from me to the food provider and allows me to have a roof over my head. But if all I seek is more of this then I am no longer seeking to Love and God wants us to know Love more than anything.
Could the same be said about tough times?
There are two kinds of suffering. One leads to more suffering and the second leads to an understanding of the reason for the suffering and therefore a healing. Which do you chose today?
Find a time and a place when you probably won’t be disturbed and begin to just follow your breath. Just listen to your breathing and notice it. Close your eyes and feel your breath and just allow yourself to really focus on it and relax. As you do offer this prayer:
“God I knock on your door this day and ask You to reveal Yourself to me”
After you have prayed this be still and keeping your eyes close just follow the breath. During the day today look for flowers and birds and know that He has sent them. Look at your trouble today and know that once you learn from this suffering in this present moment- it will go away!
