How does SAS-ness affect us?
Please read 1 Peter 1:18-19
Vs. 18 “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
A SAS (Socially Accepted Sinner) is a person that follows things handed down or other perishable things instead of understanding that Christ and His blood is ALL they need.
One example of SAS-ness is easily found in most churches in America- segregation! Keep in mind it is not uncommon even today to hear someone from certain geographical areas say, “God does not want the races to mix.”
To be certain racism is not the only socially acceptable sin and it is not relegated to any one area BUT please don’t miss the point here.
The point IS – GRACE!
The reason for Jesus and the reason that Grace is Gods vehicle to save us is really rather simple – He created us and He knows Grace through Faith is the only way He could ever have a journey of Love with us.
Everything else is perishable, everything else is fading away to include the law, everything else is an empty hand me down!
There is only ONE lamb without blemish or defect and guess what- it’s not you or me or our collective works- Its HIM!!
Find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed and just take a few deep breathes to relax. As you exhale focus on areas in your body where you might be holding stress and just release it as best you can. The jaw, face and shoulder muscles are particularly heavy areas for carrying stress.
Once you feel a bit more relaxed return to regular breathing and:
Breathe in and say:
“My Redeemer”
Breathe out and say:
“Is Christ Alone”
Practice this way till you no longer care to be a SAS but instead you are a CAR (Christ Alone Redeemed)!
