Jesus talked a lot about “The Solid Rock” and “His” way as opposed to the way the people had been following which was heavily legalistic and no room for error to the right or left. A person in the times of Christ could be stoned for anything from disobedience to parents to teaching something crazy like Grace – in light of that here is a question for you:

What was drifting away once under Grace?

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?” – Hebrews 2:1-3

This letter was written to Jewish people by background and by birth and after establishing the Lordship of Christ in Hebrews 1; Hebrews 2 starts with “do not drift away” – what is that about?

The very second you accept Christ you cease to be under the law, But most people go back to the law and ignore the Freedom, Peace, Joy and Grace of God!

Why would anyone do that?

For starters there is an evil one named satan who used to be an angel and he got punished – you see he wanted to be God – and God said “NO, there can Be only One God and I AM He!” As a result satan got cast down and he wants you miserable.

For a second reason satan has another very capable way of getting to ministers and churches and convincing them that they are right in teaching law and everyone must be like them!

Sad to say but for most Christians they have a security based on what they do, who they know and what they own as opposed to Christ Alone. Christ Alone is what makes “so great a salvation” really great! Once you accept Christ, the law is done away with as your total dependency on Him grows so does your Gratitude, Joy, Peace and Love for Him and other!
