If Jesus would have lived up to the legal standards of the day – He would have had one sweet gig all the way into retirement! Were some and are some ashamed of Jesus? Is there a difference between The Jesus that people could be ashamed of by the morality of the day and the one we see many profess?
What is the cause of that shame?
“If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”’ – Mark 8:38
The morality of this day was high to say the least! The moral traditions in the Jewish culture are such that everything in the society to include its government is Extremely connected to the religion, regimentation and rules.
So why would anyone be ashamed of Jesus IF He was perfect under the law?
Hebrews 2:10 tells us exactly how Jesus was “made perfect”
“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.”
The law was Not what Jesus lived by and Not what made Him perfect – Love was!
Yes Jesus was perfect – He was the unblemished Lamb of God! I am not questioning that He was perfect – only what made Him perfect! What kept Him on the cross? What caused His suicide mission?
LOVE!
To be Holy as He is Holy is Not a question of following the rules – It’s sharing the Love! His Love! His unconditional, unequaled and eternal Love that is beyond human capability to consider possible in our wildest dreams!
Will some people be ashamed of someone who Loves like Jesus did? Will some people question and be ashamed of a person who lives with a reckless abandon in Loving the unlovely, helping the helpless and Not making religion and morality the focus of their life?
Jesus sure thought they would – the religious will always be at odds to Grace because Grace is always at odds with anything Not based on Christ Alone!
