There are so many supporting characters in our lives, in the Bible and  in the story of Christmas itself that IF we are still and quiet we can learn volumes from! One classic example of this is Gabriel and Zechariah and the conversation this eternal angel and old man had about your Grace-Full Christmas Present number 5 – Growing into Love means Growing out of expectations!

The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.”’ – Luke 1:19-20

Gabriel – I like to think He is Gods road warrior – the busiest angel God ever created and from what we have seen in the Bible. In this particular passage we learn several things that are very important and as a result we get another Grace-Full Christmas Present!

  1. Love works outside the box! Zechariah and his wife were Way too old to be thinking about kids. God Is Love – keep Him out of your box and He will keep you growing!
  2. Love works Very well with shame is involved! Zechariah’s wife, Elizabeth, was shamed because she couldn’t have kids. God Is Love – He took away All your shame through Jesus, The Gift Beyond Compare!
  3. Love works to grow us IF we listen! Gabriel basically told Zechariah to shut his mouth and Zechariah was Blessed to have to comply. God Is Love – Every moment in your life is about trying to get you to Listen to His still small voice of Love!

The reason why desperate people find Jesus is that the law (expectations) creates desperation. This is also the reason why most Christians struggle with their life – they still grasp those expectations instead of living in Grace!

The Spirit of God is moving on the earth today and IF you will listen you will hear it! Gabriel and All the angels are Very busy these days working to let us hear, see and show Love from Above – Will you listen?
