The healing found in Love is a struggle for man because it goes directly opposite of the way we think and live. Our basic state is to crave MORE for ourselves and it doesn’t matter what it takes to get it but we know we have to “do” something to be better or above the next guy.
Not so with LOVE FROM ABOVE:
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:37-38
This passage above essentially made Jesus the strangest Jew on earth! These words made Him the opposite of a “good Jewish man” and while taught in churches around the world it is the opposite of what is put into practice by those same churches.
Why is it that today we have different churches for different populations like gay churches or black churches or homeless churches? Could it have anything to do with the idea that we would rather be comfortable around “our own kind” than to grow spiritually by learning to Love those unlike us?
I am learning and growing to understand that God is continually placing people in my path that are the exact ones that I need to learn were made in His image especially because I don’t like the part of His image they represent.
