During US Army Airborne School the jump that concerns most is the night time combat equipment jump. Your hope is that you have a good, properly functioning chute that will open But our leading Black Hat said, “If you come out of the plane and your main doesn’t open and your reserve fails you too and you can’t see any ground due to the darkness – in this case, come to a good tight body position and be prepared to Be All That You can Be!”

What is your hope in?

But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.” – John 6:45-46

The message above is Jesus telling Very law abiding people to check who they have their “hopes” set on and warning them to Not be idiots!

What does it look like to be a spiritual idiot?

It’s someone who thinks that their efforts at keeping the law give them hope. It’s trying to work your way into a Love that is given Freely despite your actions. It’s attempting to circumvent the cross while believing you are resting in it but you aren’t because you constantly have to garner the approval of the one you call god – but there Is Only One God and any god you have to work for is too small!

There are literally millions of “things” or “gods” you could have your “hopes” in – but only One gives Freedom! There are lots of ways that religion and checking the boxes can give you a roller coaster experience that seems like you are “doing” the right thing – but Only One Relationship that is based on Grace and His Love From Above! The people in this passage above had their hopes in the “law of Moses” even after meeting Jesus! Many still do today – it’s just much more subtle in the way it’s shared.

For a Relationship with Christ to work it Has To Be based on Christ Alone! Nothing else will work! If your “hope” is on or in any way connected to your works – That is why you struggle!
